Pie Face

My son got this game from Santa over Christmas Break and we can't get enough of it. If you haven't heard about it. It is called Pie Face. It comes with a spinner and you crank the dial, it's kind of like Russian Roulette you never know when the whip cream will hit you in the face. It also comes with a sponge you can wet and have that hit you in the face instead.

I had to think of a way I could incorporate this into my classroom. So I decided to come up with a sight word game that would correlate with the game. Sorry you won't be able to play the sight word game unless you have the Pie Game. In class we use the sponge instead of the whip cream. But you could totally use the whip cream too. My students ask me every time we do guided reading if we can play this game.  Click the picture for the link.

Place Value Movin' (Freebie)

Does anyone use Expressions to teach math? Our district adopted their basal this year and we are required to follow it. We can't deviate from the text. I'm so sad. I used to LOVE teaching Math in fact I felt like that was where my students did the very best. The main reason I became a teacher is because I love to create. Now I feel like I can't do anything but teach Expressions. I don't mean to dis on it. It is a good program. But I miss teaching math the way I used to. So I guess now I'll have to put my creative juices into creating instead of using them in my own class. :( Can I just say how much I love to teach place value. I have a five year old boy and I really feel like he learns best when he is up and moving. This place value freebie will once again have your kiddos moving around the room. The last place value activity I made did the same thing. If you haven't downloaded it you can download it too. It's also free. I have a couple more ideas up my sleeve for place value too. I'll be making a few more in the next couple of weeks.

This is the other place value activity if you would like to download it as well. They're both FREE. Just click on the pictures and it will take you to TPT.

Freebie Friday!!!

I'm so excited to share this birthday freebie with you. This is how I celebrate birthdays in my classroom. For this birthday activity, you have two options: first you could print page 2 and have the birthday child cut it out. Or option 2, you could have the birthday child cut out page 3 and color it to their liking. Page 4 are sparkle statements. I place one strip on each child’s desk. They have to write a sparkle statement to that child on their birthday. I tell the kids I don’t want them to write Suzy is nice. I want them to think of good qualities about that specific child. We usually have a lesson before. Then when they are finished with their sparkle statement they bring it to my back table. I usually do this first thing in the morning. I make the strips into a chain. I attach the chain to the picture of the cake. If your going to print this off. I would suggest using card stock because it's flimsy without. :). My students have always loved this activity. If you want  to grab a copy of this click on the picture!

If your looking for some more FREEBIES check out my TPT Store. I have a lot of them!!

My cutie N he didn't really like being the example but he was a good sport.
Check out Falling Into First to link up with your birthday ideas.

Favorite Finds

I'm linking up with Ladybug's teacher files. She wants us to tell her about our favorite teacher finds.

My favorite place to shop before the new school year is Star Fall. They have the best practice books with journal prompts. I buy these every year.

Have you used these pencils??? I have to say these are the BEST pencils by far that I have ever used. I seriously order about a 1,000 every year. They hardly ever break and the tip is in the middle of the pencil. I've bought other pencils that the tips are constantly breaking or the lead isn't in the center of the pencil and it never sharpens quite right.

I love this journal. It has blank writing pages with an area to have them draw a caption.
This is such a nice dictionary. I have students write words they can't spell  and they can use it as a reference later when they are doing writer's workshop.
I've mentioned these in a previous post but I just think they 're hilarious
This is the BEST pencil sharpener. It is quiet and it sharpens the pencils better than any pencil sharpener I have used before. I can't wait to find out what other teacher finds there are. You should link up too.

Giveaway Julia Cook Book

Have you heard of Julia Cook??? She is an amazing author that writes books that deal with social skills and personal hygiene habits for children. Her books help me teach these things to my students. This book is about boogers. I don't know about you but I've seen my fair share of boogers in my classroom. This book teaches the students to not pick their boogers.

This book is about personal space and how everyone has their own bubble around them.

I know you have all had issues with tattling in your classroom. This book is great for showing the difference between tattling and telling when it is necessary. I review these books a lot during the year with my kiddos.

This book I will be giving away to one lucky follower. This book is great on teaching students not to shout out. It teaches them that they need to wait patiently until it is their turn. You have to follow my blog and tell me about a time you had to deal with one of these issues .  The contest will end in one week. So check back on the 18th to see if you're  the lucky winner!
