Every year we try to make our classroom feel like a community. We take an individual picture and blow it up to a 8X10 and ask the kids what they're best at. We then display their picture above the words be your best. The students love seeing their picture posted. It also helps with learning others names and they're able to read what the other kids are good at. Their pictures always turn out so cute.

Sight Word Game Turkey Time
I'm linking up with teacher to the core she is doing a linky party on sight word games. She has so many amazing ideas and isn't this graphic to die for?
I too have made some Thanksgiving sight word games. Just in time for the month of November. Check them out. I do it everyday during guided reading and my students LOVE them. It's the first thing they ask me when they come to the table. They want to know if we are going to play turkey time. There is a Kindergarten, First Grade, and a Second grade one if you want to check them out!Tuesday, November 6, 2012
Roll A Turkey {Adding Style} Freebie
I can't believe November is already here. The month of September is always the longest month for me then October, November, and December fly by. I looked all over for a roll a turkey with adding all I could find was number identification ones. So If you're like me and want an adding one. Click on the picture below. My students are having a hard time with adding. So I thought this would be a fun way to reinforce the concept.

November Currently
First off I have to say how deeply saddened I am for those living back East. I can't imagine what you're going through. My thoughts and prayers are with you.
Are you so ready for the weekend? I sure am! I'm so glad it's Friday and tomorrow I get to SLEEP IN. This week has been exhausting especially with Halloween falling on a Wednesday. Can we just move Halloween to the last Friday of the month? It would be so much easier on the kids( and teachers :)). My kiddos were higher than a kite on the day after Halloween. I couldn't believe it.
I'm linking up with Farley on her November Currently:

Ghost on a stick! Halloween party game idea.
A couple of years ago we played this game at a family party. That same year we played it in my classroom for our PTA party. I found this site HERE it has a rap, to ghost on the stick. You can also watch the video. It's a little creepy though. How to Play: You need a pan lid. We had all the kids put their ghosts on a stick in the middle of the table. Every time the rap said ghost on a stick. The kids would have to pull their stick out of the circle before the pan lid trapped their ghost underneath. You could listen to the song if you didn't want to read the rap. |
These are my nieces and nephews playing ghost on a stick. |
This is my little guy playing. He wasn't too happy when his ghost on a stick got trapped under the pan lid. It made me feel bad that he got so upset over it. |
